Welcome to another year for Glass on the Grass, a joyous celebrationof the glass arts. This year, we are once again at Gonzaga University. This provides us with many benefits for the artists, as well as the public.
Now you can walk, drive, bike, swim, or boat to the show. Here, you will find more space, level grounds, and the Jundt Art Museum. The Jundt houses several Chihuly Glass sculptures, including a chandelier. The chandelier is believed to be the largest single glasswork in this region, and is a stunning piece to behold. Last year, the festival was quite well-attended, with approximately 3,000 visitors. The stormy weather may have thinned the crowd slightly, but quite a number of people purchased glasswork on that rainy Sunday. This year, pets will be permitted on site, and we will feature a variety of sponsor-related events. We are still planning to have wine-tasting at this location, and will include a variety of wineries in this celebration of the Arts. We will also have music on the grounds. However, attendance is not
limited to people over the age of 21, which will provide a much larger customer base.

As always, we hope to make the show more interesting to the public,
and beneficial to the artists. This year, we are planning some Green
Earth booths that compliment, rather than compete with the artists.
Artists’ numbers will be limited, and those doing demonstrations are always given extra emphasis. Last year, we arranged the booths in a circle, whereas this year, we will be among the trees, closer to the Hamilton side of Gonzaga University. This provides much-needed shade, which will be very nice, as it was very hot this time last year. The venue will also provide the artist raffle and giveaway area that G.G. sponsored. We also hope to offer additional events and booths outside the artists’ space, in a manner that does not compete with artists’ sales. We will also be providing a sponsored space to showcase local upcoming artists. Feel free to nominate someone you know. Most importantly, admission to this festival is free to the public.

We will again be hiring an overnight security guard, to oversee the venue, which was very effective last year. Parking was also a plus, last year. We will provide advertising, but also rely on the artists to spread the word to their patrons. Feel free to give input and ideas about the show, setup, and content. Remember, there are limited booth spaces each year. We would love you to volunteer for some of the pre-festival tasks and on-grounds activities. Making and putting out signs, organizing public service displays, making sure the food booths come through, art contest, et cetera. If you think you could offer your
assistance to any of these tasks, please let me know.
